A Q&A With Our Communications Team

A Q&A with Our Communications Team

Comms team

It’s time to say hello to our witty and talented communications team! Made up of four superstar copywriters, our comms team is responsible for everything involving written content, social media, digital marketing and more.

Taylor Smith

When she’s not putting together the perfect outfit or jet setting off to a new city, you’ll find Taylor managing all things communications for KM&A. She holds many titles—communications manager, KM&A’s biggest cheerleader, older-sister figure for the comms team … the list goes on. Taylor is a first-generation graduate from Franklin College with a degree in public relations, making her a press release pro and a strategy specialist. Next time you’re in need of some sensational copy, hit up KM&A’s communications queen.

Q: Why did you want to work at KM&A?

“From the moment I walked through the door to interview (when going into an office for an interview was a thing two years ago), KM&A instantly made me feel like family. We aren’t a large corporate company, we are a growing agency of individuals who want to make you feel welcome—and from the first moment I walked in to meet the team, I felt that. I knew I wanted to be a part of this growing organization and help build not only ourselves, but our clients too.”

Q: What project are you most proud of during your time at KM&A thus far?

“I have been working with Delta Faucet Company since they first came on board as a client in March of 2020. What initially started as one virtual project has since turned into six large showroom virtual events and many others within their company. From crafting content to managing talent, it’s been such an experience to see what we have created and accomplished in the last year. Additionally, though this isn’t necessarily a project, something else that I am beyond proud of is taking the chance to move to Florida and assist with opening our first office outside of Indianapolis. Leading a team of savvy communication gurus has been fantastic and I can’t wait to see how we continue to grow in this new market.”

Q: Describe an average day on the job.

“I love to start the day by checking-in with my team. I ask how they are feeling about taking on their daily to-dos and ask if there is anything I can assist with or anything that needs my attention. I then ensure my to-do list is up to date, respond to emails and get started on my task list. After that, something will usually come up that requires my attention or deviates me from doing what’s right in front of me (anyone else have that happen?). No day is ever the same, whether it be new projects coming in, troubleshooting an issue or brainstorming new ideas to be proactive—myself and the team are constantly trying to stay ahead.”

Q: Where can we find you when you’re not working?

“Well now that I am a Hoosier-turned-Floridian, if I feel like going somewhere I can be found by the pool, at the beach or trying one of the trendiest new restaurants/hidden gems in the area. If I feel like staying home, my friend, DoorDash, and I love a good movie day.”

Q: What professional goal do you hope to accomplish within the next year?

“I hope to continue growing KM&A both by attracting new business and new team members. There is still so much to learn both personally and professionally, but I want to take what skills I have, apply them, bring new business to our Tampa market and in the process of doing so, continue to grow each of our departments.”

Graeme Eber

Meet Graeme, a social media guru and Morgan Wallen’s biggest fan. Graeme is a recent graduate, obtaining both her B.A. in Advertising and Public Relations and M.A. in Professional Communication from the University of Tampa (smarty pants much?!). When she’s not creating our clients’ latest social media copy or drafting press releases, you’ll find Graeme cheering on the Ravens or planning her next adventure!

Q: Why did you want to work at KM&A?

“When I applied to KM&A, I noticed they were new to the Tampa area, and I was excited to join a team and help them grow.”

Q: What project are you most proud of during your time at KM&A thus far?

“I am most proud about being a part of the team that worked on a large-scale virtual event with Delta Faucet Company. I was able to write the communication surrounding the event and aided in writing the script. The event received an overall 4.9/5 for attendee satisfaction—the highest rating we have seen come from a virtual event we helped put on for Delta Faucet Company!”

Q: Describe an average day on the job.

“I begin my day by catching up on any emails or notifications (with a cup of coffee, of course). Next, I write down my to-do list and get to work. Typically, I’ll have a few meetings throughout the day and will collaborate with my coworkers frequently. I’ve found that bouncing ideas off each other has really helped me and my work process.”

Q: Where can we find you when you’re not working?

“When I’m not working, you can find me at the beach or hanging out with my friends. Most of the time, I’m cheering on the Ravens or the Bolts at a sports bar.”

Q: What professional goal do you hope to accomplish within the next year?

“I want to continue to grow my knowledge and expertise in communications and public relations as well as grow my network, along with KM&A’s network, within the Tampa Bay area.”

Val Anderson

Looking for anything digital? Val’s your gal. As a recent graduate from the University of South Florida, Val has brought a fresh digital outlook to KM&A and handles anything involving analytics, SEO, digital trends and research. When she’s not working on our latest whitepaper or improving our website’s SEO, you’ll catch Val watching The Vampire Diaries or at one of Tampa’s trendiest restaurants, red sangria in hand.

Q: Why did you want to work at KM&A?

“I saw that KM&A was more than just a marketing agency. They genuinely care about their clients’ success, and I wanted to be a part of a business that was delivering real results.”

Q: What project are you most proud of during your time at KM&A thus far?

“I am most proud of the digital marketing white paper I wrote this past year. I spent a lot of time and effort researching, writing and making sure every detail is perfect.”

Q: Describe an average day on the job.

“After I check my email and verify meetings, I get to work studying the hottest digital trends that KM&A and our clients could benefit from. Chatting and brainstorming with my team members is a very important part of my day—it helps keep the creative juices flowing. I make sure to examine all analytics from any active campaigns and make the necessary adjustments. I end my day by checking in with my coworkers and preparing my tasks for the next day.”

Q: Where can we find you when you’re not working?

“After work, I enjoy being at home, unwinding on the couch and catching up on Netflix shows with my boyfriend, Justin. On the weekends, I usually do some shopping and hang out with friends and family. My Sundays are specifically dedicated to watching football and screaming at the TV—go Bucs!”

Q: What professional goal do you hope to accomplish within the next year?

“I want to further my expertise in the digital marketing world and be able to lead my own team of savvy individuals.”

Brittany Reed

Brittany is the communications team’s most recent addition. She graduated with her B.A. in Communication this past May and is currently working on her M.A. in Social and Emerging Media—both at the University of Tampa. When Brittany’s not putting her communication skills to the test at KM&A, you can find her scouting out new plants for the office or walking Bayshore Boulevard (with a Buddy Brew coffee in hand, of course).

Q: Why did you want to work at KM&A?

“One thing that drew me to KM&A was the company culture. Before I interviewed, I could already tell KM&A was extremely approachable and down to earth based off its website and social media platforms. I have since found an extremely welcoming team that puts each other and client success above all else. I also wanted to be part of a growing agency—especially since the Tampa office is recently established!”

Q: What project are you most proud of during your time at KM&A thus far?

“I’m most proud of a social media strategy I created for one of our clients. I learned so much from the experience and spent a lot of time researching, strategizing and putting together my findings into a formal presentation deck—I wanted to make sure everything was perfect!”

Q: Describe an average day on the job.

“The very first thing I do is grab a cup of coffee—it’s essential. After checking my email and any other notifications, I get to work on any tasks or projects I have. I always make sure to check in with Taylor, Graeme and Val to see if they need help with their workload—I’ve realized I learn the most when collaborating on a project with my team members. The rest of my day usually consists of writing blogs, helping plan social strategies or assisting the rest of the KM&A team with anything they need!”

Q: Where can we find you when you’re not working?

“When I’m not at work, you’ll find me at the gym, by the pool or shopping for plants that I don’t have space for—it’s called self-care, okay?”

Q: What professional goal do you hope to accomplish within the next year?

“My main goal is to find my niche within this industry and continue to hone in my skills—and learn new ones, too!”
