It’s time to say hello to our events team! Made up of four event planning experts, our events team is the eyes and ears behind anything involving virtual, in-person or hybrid experiences, event production and venue sourcing. They’re responsible for every event KM&A develops as well as pre-event planning, post-event surveys and everything that happens in-between.
With a wide range of experience in event management, Madelyn is the ideal candidate for any form of event production. Whether this Certified Meeting Planner is tackling last minute obstacles or fine-tuning logistics, she’s always looking through a resourceful lens and ambitiously making every experience perfect. When she’s not onsite or meeting with clients, you can find her jamming out to Beyoncé with a glass of Chardonnay in hand.
I love helping a client bring their vision to life through creative and meaningful events. I also love being able to work with different clients across industries and backgrounds—it keeps me on my toes to always be catering to a different audience!
Even though I’m partial to in-person events, I’ve loved getting to be part of our virtual and hybrid events. It’s given me the opportunity to expand my knowledge of event production and how to use technology to create unique experiences. There’s something really fun about being on a headset and bringing a show to life!
Every day is different and that’s what I like about events! Some days, I’m on-site executing, others are full of calls and planning visits and sometimes I’m cranking out timelines and proposals from my laptop.
The gym, a nice restaurant or a cool event (shocking right?)—anything from a concert to an NFL game! But also, on my couch catching up on TV.
I’ve learned how important internal communications and keeping tight timelines are. I’ve always worked with deadlines, but since we offer a wide variety of services to a number of clients, it’s so important to stay on track so other projects and/or departments don’t fall behind.
As the latest addition to our events team, Lesley is filled with fresh ideas and a hunger to learn. Whether she’s traveling across the United States to execute client events, working with Madelyn on logistical details or bringing new strategies to the table, Lesley is always ready to tackle whatever comes her way. Want to get on her good side? Turn on Keeping up with the Kardashians and hand her a cocktail.
I was looking for a fresh start in my career. I had worked in trade show marketing for 10 years and was ready for the next challenge. After speaking with KM&A during my interview process, I realized that this company was going to give me exactly what I was looking for: a change of pace, new challenges every day and a chance to work with multiple clients on all types of projects.
Building a solid relationship with each of our clients.
Like being on a racetrack with lots of twists and turns—ha! No day is the same, and some can be fast paced, depending on the client and their needs. Sometimes you have a game plan on how the day will go and boom—you must quickly shift gears.
Spending time with my son, going to dance classes or enjoying good food & cocktails at any of the best food spots in Indy.
You must have adaptability (lucky for me, that’s my number one strength). Knowing this moving forward, I will be able to easily navigate through my days to make sure our clients have the best experience.
Hand this event planning pro an iced coffee (or two) and she will put on the perfect production! Maddy is a student at the University of Indianapolis working on her degree in marketing but she’s also Madelyn’s right-hand woman when it comes to anything involving logistics, on-site work or registration websites. When she’s not executing exciting experiences, you’ll find Maddy at the gym, watching rom-coms or hanging out with her cat, Luna.
I wanted to work at KM&A because of the unique culture of the agency and for the opportunity to gain professional experience in the marketing industry. I loved how the agency’s personality shined through on their social media and website, and that’s what initially drew my attention to KM&A.
I enjoyed working on the Delta Faucet Company event that was themed around the Indy 500 and hosted at the Dallara Indy Car Factory. I was able to meet Indy Car driver Charlie Kimball and see the production of a virtual event.
An average day on the job involves checking in on tasks, having a few meetings and working on whatever assignments I have for the day! One thing that I frequently do is research locations for events and help build event sites.
When I’m not working, you can find me in the gym or snuggled up on the couch with a cup of coffee and a good book!
One thing I have learned during my time at KM&A is how to effectively manage and communicate client expectations both internally and externally. It is important to have clear communication and efficient processes to best serve the needs of clients.’
As one of our resident crime junkie and thriller movie enthusiasts, Mary is always on the case when it comes to a challenge, which is why she makes the perfect addition to our events team. This Butler University senior is an event planning pro, whether she’s working on-site, attending meetings or helping Madelyn put together timelines. Want to get on her good side? Buy her a large McDonald’s Diet Coke and treat her to some breadsticks at Goodfellas Pizza!
I wanted to work at KM&A because as a student, I’m always trying to gain new experiences in my field of interest. I was eager to learn in an agency setting and get hands-on experience from planning to execution for both in-person and hybrid settings.
I have really enjoyed working on the Delta Faucet Company events because of what a wide variety of experiences I have been able to gain from them. I’ve been able to work on set during production days, as well as be a part of the planning and preparation prior to the events.
Each of my days are different, which makes coming to work every day new and exciting. Typically, I work on whatever tasks are assigned to me that day. Sometimes this means working on building or editing registration sites, doing research for kits we are building or gift items we are helping clients with. I also attend events meetings with clients to provide updates on current projects and brainstorm ideas for what is to come.
When I’m not working, you can find me at Butler University hanging out with my friends, studying or in Broad Ripple getting something delicious to eat.
One thing I have learned at KM&A is to remain flexible. Agency life is fast-paced and calls for constant adapting.
Now that you’ve met our events team, be sure to connect with Madelyn, Lesley, Maddy and Mary on LinkedIn! And don’t forget … we’re here for all your event planning needs.
