As a Jack Daniels concessioner and someone who never wears socks, Steve Klipsch continues to lead our team and pave the way for KM&A’s success. Read more on some of Steve’s most challenging things about his job and what dishes he cooks in his free time.
As president, my role is to set the direction of KM&A and create the tools that allow the team to succeed.
When I was in high school, I worked for my dad and built garage doors. Many of the employees were ex-cons and they would shoot nail guns at me because I was the boss’s kid.
Nimble. Bottom-line focused. Versatile.
I’m proud of the fact that we’ve been able to assemble a really productive, but cool team.
The most challenging part of my job is helping our current and prospective clients understand the value of their brand. Most people tend to focus purely on the financial aspect and don’t understand how strengthening their marketing plan can actually strengthen both the financial and operational sides of their business.
Sometimes we all get caught up in the here and now and don’t always see the bigger picture – in terms of branding. I had to learn this for myself at the speaker company and I now get to share that learning process with my clients.
The principle that I’ve always tried to live by is, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” I figure that takes care of a lot of problems.
I don’t drink coffee, but my drink of choice is Jack Daniels or a cold glass of sweet tea.
I’d love to play at the Augusta National Golf Course.
Pulled pork mac and cheese.
Every day is different, but I’ll probably take my son to Golf Galaxy to pick up his clubs and then take my older son to play nine holes of golf after his tutoring that my wife, Lisa, took him to. After all of that, I’ll help assist in feeding our chickens, horses, dogs and cats.
One thing that people don’t know about me is that I’m a fairly introverted person. I can also play the drums.
Other than golf, my other passion is cooking. When I have time to cook for my family, I tend to lean towards French dishes. One of my wife’s favorite meals that I cook is a breaded chicken breast with morel-béarnaise over rice pilaf.
Jimmy Buffet.
